OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are passionate about wedding photography and we feel privileged to be part of your day. Based between Ashbourne and Derby we cover weddings in Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and surrounding counties as well as further afield. The core of our coverage is documentary photography (often called reportage) where we observe and record events as they happen rather than directing them. This means you spend less time posing for the camera or waiting for shots to be set up, and more time interacting with your guests and enjoying your day.

However, we often find that whilst clients love the idea of this informal style they don't wish to sacrifice the option of having a few formal images of themselves, family or friends. We are happy to accomodate this, and would recommend it as the ideal approach for most couples. For example, a large group photograph of everyone is often great fun and will serve as a reminder of "who was there" and "who wore what" in years to come.

Or you may like to make the most of your reception venue and spend a little quiet time in a beautiful spot away from your guests, having some relaxed portraits made of just the two of you.

The choice is yours, and we will discuss these options with you at our pre-wedding meeting as your day approaches.

The advent of digital technology has made it possible to do just about anything to a photographic image. Unfortunately this wonderful facility is often over-used, leading to images which look contrived or over-processed.

Our aim is to produce beautifully-caught images without digital trickery. Most are shot in natural light with no intrusive flash. Any retouching we do is designed simply to show reality at its best rather than to create something that was never there.

One of the joys of documentary wedding photography is the way people interact spontaneously to produce unforgettable images. These "happy chances" are fleeting, lasting literally for just moments. To capture these takes skill and anticipation, but also a high degree of preparation.

We offer beautiful wedding photographs tailored to your wishes. We have a number of photography plans, all of which include hi-resolution images on disc to give you the option of producing your own album or photobook. Also included as standard is a slideshow of your wedding and a password-protected online gallery for you and your guests to view your photographs. You can of course include an album as part of your photography package and we are pleased to offer a range of stunning handmade Italian albums which combine contemporary style with traditional quality.
